17th Annual Outer Banks Surfrider Scholarship Paddle Race
The Outer Banks Surfrider Foundation is hosting the annual 1 mile Paddle Race to benefit the local scholarship and community education fund. The fund is used primarily to award a scholarship of $1000 to a college bound senior from each of the local high schools that pledge to concentrate their education on an environmental focus.
Sponsorship opportunities starting at $100, though any amount of cash donation is accepted. Click here for more information about sponsorship levels and to download the sponsorship form. Sponsors will receive logo recognition on the t-shirt, poster, and at the event, as well as other marketing for the event. Sponsorship is due June 25. You can bring the form and donation to the Bold Print office, or mail it to the address on the form.
Through the Surfrider local scholarship and community education fund, the Outer Banks Surfrider Foundation made a donation of $2000 to the First Fligh High School Remote Operated Vehicles (ROV) Team.
The team of students, lead by mentor Andrew Thomas, won the regional competition held at Old Dominion University for the third consecutive year to advance to the international competition, this year held in Hilo, Hawaii, and compete against teams from all over the world!
